Who Am I?
Amy Haddrill Occupational Therapist & Business Owner Bachelor of Allied Health Science (Occupational Therapy)
Amy has over 13 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist and in this time has worked tirelessly educating herself and upskilling in her areas of passion- Children and Family Mental Health.
Amy's initial experience as an OT was working in the area of adult mental health. She worked closely with clients and their families to assist maintain stability of their mental health within their home and community and to encourage independence in caring for their own overall health. This was an eye opening experience and she thoroughly enjoyed working in this field however her heart and passion always remained on working with children.
After 2 years she transferred to a paediatric position attending many Professional Development opportunities and linking with a range of professionals from OT’s to Speech Therapists, Psychologists, Paediatricians, Teachers and many other supports. Amy now has two children of her own and this has provided a whole new experience that has assisted in fine-tuning a great deal of understanding and developing new skills that compliment her role as an OT and her passion for working with families as a whole to develop skills that will assist them throughout their lives.
Amy strongly believes in utilising a child’s unique strengths and passions to tailor individualised programs and learning opportunities to overcome challenges, develop abilities and become confident and resilient learners.
Services Provided
Amy is extremely passionate about working with all children however has focused her training and expertise on working with children with challenging behaviours, trauma, sensory concerns, ASD, ADHD,ODD, Attachment Disorders and more.
Amy works with children in the therapy room, their education settings and will work 1:1 or in social skill groups and also offers parent consults and provision of strategies for education settings.
All sessions run 45mins, 60mins or 90mins.
Subsidies Available
No medical referral is required to access Occupational Therapy services however the following subsidies may be accessed if you speak to your treating health professional.
NDIS Funding
- The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is funded by the Australian Government and helps people with disabilities access the services they need.
- NDIS plans can be utilised to cover Occupational Therapy services.
- A service agreement will be provided which will require the dates of your child's plan and the hours available for Occupational Therapy services.
- Amy's OT for Kids is not registered to the NDIS and is only able to accept plans that are managed by a plan partner or self-managed at this time.
- NDIS services are provided in line with the NDIS price guide.
- Please feel free to contact us for further assistance in ensuring OT services are allocated in your plan and for assistance in utilising your plan to the best of its ability.
Helping Children with Autism over 7’s
- This plan is set up by a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist for children with an Autism diagnosis between the ages of 6 and 15years of age.
- This plan can only be accessed one time per child and includes 4 assessment sessions and up to 20 allied health therapy sessions.
Better Start for Children with Disabilities
- This funding offers families with children diagnosed Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Fragile X syndrome, and moderate of greater vision or hearing impairment, including deaf blindness access to funding and medicare subsidies for accessing early intervention. Access is through the development of a treatment and management plan through through the childs doctor and must be accessed prior to the child turning 13 and services can be accessed until the age of 15.
- Amy’s OT for Kids and Educational Learning Toys is an approved provider for this funding.
Better Outcomes for Mental Health Plan
- This plan is established by your GP and provides a rebate for up to 10 x therapy sessions per calendar year.
- Your GP will provide you with the paperwork which you are then required to bring to the first session
- Eligibility is based on whether your child is deemed to have a chronic medical condition.
- You will be required to pay the full price of the session as usual however will then use your receipt of payment to claim your rebate through medicare.
- Better Outcomes funded sessions are unable to be claimed when claiming private health also.
Private Health
- Most major health funds cover Occupational Therapy services. Please contact your private health fund to find out what your plan covers and confirm yearly allowances. Please note private health does not cover the full amount. You will be required to pay the full cost of the session as usual and provided with a receipt to claim your rebate through your private health provider.
Medicare Enhanced Primary Care Plan
- This plan is established with your GP and provides up to 5 subsidised sessions for allied health therapy (OT, Speech, Child Psychology etc.). You may choose to use all 5 sessions for one therapy or split between different therapies (for eg 3 OT, 2 SLP) These can be renewed each calendar year.
- Your GP will provide you with the paperwork which you are then required to bring to the first session
- Eligibility is based on whether your child is deemed to have a chronic medical condition.
- Sessions are paid as usual but you take your receipt to Medicare or claim through the app to obtain the refund.
- EPC funded sessions are unable to be claimed through private health also.
